General Questions

The Shawnee Cave Amphitheater is a beautiful natural rock formed amphitheater.  The stage area is covered by a rock bluff that perfectly amplifies sound.  The seating is open-air and surrounded by amazing rock formations, a waterfall, and diverse vegetation. We are located at 3747 IL-127 Murphysboro, IL. Situated on Illinois-127 (10 miles south of Carbondale) we are just minutes from the Shawnee Hills Wine Trail, The Shawnee National Forest and many lakes, hiking trails and other outdoor activities.

Important things to note about our venue:

Shawnee Cave Amphitheater is a limited capacity venue. Customer experience has been prioritized over ticket sales (quality vs. quantity) and ticket sales have been capped to ensure an intimate premier festival experience. Although the venue can hold twice the capacity of tickets to be sold, there will not be any additional tickets released prior to the event.  We encourage you to be prepared to purchase once tickets are released, as we anticipate this event selling out.

Yes!  We have options for camping by your vehicle, tent camping, as well as RV and camper paces. ALL ON-SITE CAMPING OPTIONS ARE PRIMITIVE. All campers receive access to brand new Shower Trailers on site. Campers also get exclusive access to our Thursday Pre-Party for VIP and Campers only. Portable bathrooms are located all around the campground and venue.

Our campground is a large, flat grassy area (well mowed), surrounded by tress on all sides, adjacent to the Shawnee National Forest.

Yes. Although we would have loved to coordinate this to fall on a weekend without so many other event happening regionally, these were the dates that worked best for the venue AND the artists. We believe there is enough demand from fans like you for all of these events to be successful!  If you find yourself with tickets already in hand for another event, HAVE FUN (that’s the goal here, right?) then keep an eye on our website and social media pages for other upcoming events! There are several shows in the planning stages and we hope you’ll give us a try on the next go-around! If you have further questions check our website FAQ. YES! We recommend bringing a chair or a blanket. Our venue has no permanent seating. Our shuttle service will easily help you bring your chairs and coolers directly to the concert viewing area. 

YES! This event is BYOB and BYOC, please feel free to bring a full cooler right down to our concert venue area and enjoy the music on your chair or blanket of your liking. 

YES! We will have food and concessions vendors on site, but feel free to BYOB and BYOC anything you like in a cooler. Our expert shuttle service will help you transport your coolers, chairs, and any belongings directly to the concert viewing area.

All ages are welcome! Children 15 and under gain FREE admission to the event with a paid adult.  If the adult purchases VIP ticket the child will also get access to VIP area. This is a very family-friendly venue with kids activities on Shakedown. 

The venue is not in an underground cave but it is adjacent to a roughly 100’ tall sandstone rock formation.The stage is underneath the overhang and the venue seating is open air. 

Yes, you may enter and re-enter the venue as many times as needed within the open gates hours.

Gates open each day at noon for those camping with us.

Yes, our entire venue is ADA accessible in most areas. We offer an air conditioned shuttle service which takes you from parking or camping directly to our concert viewing area. We can make special arrangements for EVERYONE. We can personally accommodate you almost every part of the way. 

Smoking is allowed in designated areas but please be considerate of your neighbors. Security may ask you to refrain from smoking if it bothers those around you.

Shawnee Cave Amphitheater is an outdoor music amphitheater that is a rain or shine event venue. Please bring a chair, jacket, rain poncho, sunscreen, appropriate walking shoes, and bug spray. All items carried into the venue are subject to be searched by venue security. COOLERS AND CHAIRS ARE ALLOWED! This event is BYOB. Our shuttle service can help you get your coolers and chairs from our parking and camping areas directly to our concert viewing area. 

Flow toys are allowed as long as they stay within the borders of your dedicated group space and are used safely, not bothering or endangering anyone in (or out of) your party. Note- keep fire toys at home. 

Credit Card and Cash payments will be accepted onsite. We also have an ATM ON SITE!!! 

You may purchase tickets online or at the gates.

Camping Questions

Shawnee Cave Amphitheater is proud to announce our onsite camping area. We offer a gorgeous, flat grassy area surrounded by a tree line, adjacent to the Shawnee National Forest. All campers get FREE access to our brand new Shower Trailer with hot water. 

  • Children 15 and under gain FREE admission to the event.
  • Each person in your party will need a camping pass for each night.
  • If you are upgrading to an RV spot, only one RV upgrade will be needed per RV. 

Yes, there is a walkable path for folks who wish to walk down to the venue area.  We will also be utilizing a shuttle to help those with mobility limitations, to better control the crowd, as well as provide shuttle services for VIP patrons.

Our primitive campground area is in an open field with properly spaced campsites.

We have opened up limited areas to camp in our wooded areas.  This area will be on a first come first serve basis with priority given to 3 day camping ticket holders.

We have released a limited number of day Camping tickets for Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  These spots will be clearly marked and will be park and camp only.  Check in time for day camping is noon on purchased day and Check out time for Day camping is 11:00 am the following day of purchase.

If you purchased a camping pass ADD-ON, you will be allowed to leave and re-enter the campground area any time throughout the entire weekend. Entry and Re-entry to the lower music viewing area is allowed only during Open Gate Hours. We have shuttles to bring you from the camping areas to the concert viewing area many times daily throughout the whole weekend.

Yes, if the exhaust is properly ventilated.

No swimming on property. Check out Cedar Lake Beach or Lake Kinkaid for more information about local swimming areas

Primitive camping and primitive RV. No water and electric hook ups.

We currently do not have any hiking trails on property, but the Shawnee National Forest borders our property and has ample hiking opportunities that range in difficulty levels to accommodate your groups abilities. 

As much as we all love our 4-legged companions, only qualified service animals will be admitted into the venue.  Any service animal will have to be approved PRIOR to arrival and will need to have proper certification documentation.  Please contact shawneecave@gmail.com to begin this approval process.
